Phyllis Racine “Corky” Wheeler—Co-Owner/Stylist/Instructor
Corky has been doing hair since the mid 80’s and Studio 49 Artistic Salon is her third salon. Corky taught in and out of Russia for five years thought the University of Alaska, Anchorage and also in several schools throughout Anchorage. In working for other owners, she worked during the days and taught other students in the evenings. Finally, after years of work and experience behind her, she started Studio 49 with her 21-year-old daughter, Sheena. The two work great together, combining new and seasoned experience. Corky has been to Aveda Institute in Minn. MN, Abba education in CA, TRI education. Most who know her in the industry consider her a color specialist with Goldwell products. She still loves doing hair and operates under a NO stress mentality. She believes that listening skills are very important in this business and that is the reason that God gave us one mouth two ears so we can concentrate on our clients needs and meet them!
